Buying art for a good cause
My donated art prints: ‘Power To The People’ and ‘Love Is Love’.
Back in June, I received an unexpected email asking me if I would like to donate to a charity art auction by Imara. Funnily enough, I had stumbled across one of their previous art auctions, which they had held a few years ago when I was visiting Nottingham with a friend (Planting Relationships). We had some time to kill, and were exploring the city we used to call home back when we were uni students, when we stumbled across their exhibition. I remember being so impressed by the quality and variety of artworks on display, but what left a lasting impression was the charity itself and the important work they do. Since then, I had been trying my best to keep an eye out for open calls, but I kept missing them!

Imara is a Nottingham-based charity empowering children and families to move forward from the impacts of sexual and domestic abuse by providing art therapy and support around the criminal justice process. Their art auctions help them raise vital funds to keep supporting children and families in Nottingham.

Yesterday evening was their exhibition launch party. It was such a beautiful event, with heartfelt and moving speeches from the organiser and some of the artists, and live music from local musicians. It’s a real honour to have had the opportunity to support such an important cause and to have my art exhibited alongside some varied and beautiful artworks.
